Maxis, Digi, Celcom 3G Coverage comparison

Malaysia : Some countries already step into 4G Wireless World.  Sad to say, Malaysia Telcos still struggle to fulfill Nation-Wide 3G demand.  People who are enjoying 3G service are so lucky because of location, location and location.

Maxis, Digi recently had come out with their iPhone 4 special promotion.  Many people are so excited to grab this promotion,  but after few days, they had discovered in some areas, there are no 3G service coverage.  I saw plenty of complains ‘flow’ into their Facebook’s page.

I’m so curious about the 3G coverage so I Google it.  This is what I found:

Maxis 3G (updated 20 Aug 2011), EDGE, GPRS coverage.  When you look at the map, what is in your mind?  Only few tiny spots that have 3G service.  What happen if you travel beyond this areas ?

Digi 3G coverage look NO different to Maxis.  What I think is, this telcos company only focus on high population town.

Celcom 3G coverage -Legend

Celcom 3G coverage

Celcom had the most complete communication infrastructure in Malaysia, unfortunately, the 3G quality of service is very bad.  Service interruption and unstable connection always make customers frustrated.  Limitation on download/upload speed is another drawback.

Before you sign up any data packages with these Telcos, check with them, the 3G coverage at that area.  And ask people who had used their service and compare them.  At least, you won’t feel been ‘cheated’ after using their service.
